Shoeless Joe Jackson League Thoughts

With our current league becoming so sophisticated, we should document all our league rules and standards on this site. Maybe some other fantasy users will stumble upon how we do things and want to use our League Policies. Seems like we probably have one of the more complicated and interesting fantasy leagues around. Especially with our new keeper rules, and how our keepers affect the draft.

Also, who are the favorites in this years league? Seems like with the new system, there will be more parody in the league. However, my guess is Christian will be back up around the top again. Morten should be down based on how he mortaged the future to win last year. I think my team (which I have yet to determine a name for) has two of the best keepers out there, but I’m not sure how good my supporting keepers are. And I will have to draft way better than I did last year… Richie Sexson in the 5th round anyone?

It would be interesting to see a statistical analysis of the teams keepers before the draft, to see who has the best group of keepers. Then do another set of projections after the draft. This would show us who had the best drafts and who had the worst drafts.
Ok, that’s enough babling. I will bring something more to the table in my next post….

I actually think Tim has a really good shot this year. We'll be able to make a better guess once keepers are set and then again after the draft.

The cool thing about our current set up is how it is impacting teams going forward. I have a pretty good set of keepers, but I have no value prospects in the 25th round aread, having trading Young to Powell. And I have one of the least valuable minor league guys in Reid Brignac because of my low lottery pick. I'm basically like the Mariners are right now after trading Bedard, in win-now mode. But hopefully I have a slightly better shot at finishing high this year that they do...

Well, I'd put Christian's odds of winning the league at about 4-1. I'd put the M's chances of winning the world series at 200-1.

If standard Company X out in the real world was run like the Mariners, the company would either go out of business or all of the Stock Holders would have the leaders fired.

If Company X held onto again workers who were no longer competent at their jobs, yet still highly paid, but decided to let go their young, low paid, highly talented, but slightly unproven workers, everyone looking at this company from the outside would think it was terribly run company. Yet somehow, baseball teams are able to do this, and the majority of people applaud what they are doing.

It doesn't make sense!

I'm too bad that there isn't a feature letting you edit your comments. I've already noticed several errors in my first one...

apparently using a nickname as your 'identity' lets you put whatever you want as your blog name. not sure what the point of that is....
